Get promoted to Salesforce Admin with these 3 tips

by | Feb 24, 2022 | Salesforce

You’ve mapped out your career plans, but how do you achieve your goal of becoming a Salesforce Administrator within your organization? You can quickly become a Salesforce Administrator with a bit of planning, education, and strategy. Here are a few tips to get you headed in the right direction.

Work on a project within your organization that involves CRM to demonstrate your skills.

Before going directly for the promotion, consider working on a few projects with someone working in the Salesforce ecosystem at your organization. You can also ask to participate in an informational interview with you to learn more about what Salesforce Administrators do and how Salesforce is used within your organization. This strategy is helpful because it demonstrates that you’re contributing to the success of your organization and, at the same time, gets you some valuable experience to learn from someone knowledgeable about the field you want to go into. Get certified.

Getting some official certificates under your belt is a great way to show your boss that you’re serious about your goal of becoming a Salesforce Administrator. Suppose you’ve already self-studied Salesforce and feel confident that you could pass Salesforce’s official Salesforce Administrator exam. In that case, it’s a great jumping-off point for professionals looking to boost their professional skill set seriously. If you’d like a more structured way to prepare for the Salesforce Administrator credential, we suggest checking Pathstream’s Salesforce Administrator Career Certificate, which prepares you for the Salesforce Administrator exam with more hands-on instruction.

Ask!

Make sure your boss knows that you’re seeking a promotion. Compile example projects you can show your boss to demonstrate that you’re ready for the role. Emphasize that you take your career seriously and that you’re ready for the next step in your professional trajectory. Communicating clearly with your manager about your professional goals ensures that you’re both on the same page – and your manager might start to be more cognisant of opportunities to help you advance within your organization!
